What Does It Mean To Succeed? »
Posted by: DawudMiracle 1 year agoIf you think of success as a destination - a place to arrive too - I can see that not arriving at that destination could be thought of as a failure. Yet framing success and failure this way leaves no room for growing and learning. So how can we learn and grow if we don't try things; have experiences?

Success is following your passion and your dreams - regardless of what you family and friends sayâ;¦
Success is living a life filled with joy, love, and laughterâ;¦
Success is truly choosing to be happy RIGHT NOWâ;¦
If you live these things - money and abundance will be ever present in your life.

I used to look at success as setting that one big goal - graduating college was one - then I proceeded to overlook all of the little successes I had during those years I was working on achieving that one big goal. It was tough trying to climb that big mountain and kind of depressing - no real gratification during the trip.
Many, many years later, I am able to concentrate on that just "one day at a time" mantra. I hate cliche's, but that one is right on. As long as I do what I need to get done in a day, I feel satisfied. Even if I screw up here, there, and again throughout my day. I still have my big goals - but the trip is now much more fun.

I understand completely. Have you ever climbed a mountain. Mountaineering is a great metaphor for success. Climbing is dangerous, arduous and sometimes flat out boring. And the pace can seem so slow - hours and hours of one foot in front of the other at what seems like a snail's pace.
But after some time, you look back and see how far you've gone and that instills hope. And while the summit is the goal, the return is the success. While the process of the climb is the journey. The wonderful thing about mountaineering is that you don't have to summit to have success.

I completely agree, my friend. But why do you think we spend so much time listening to people's judgments of our success?

Confidence...definitely. Belief in yourself is what will get you through the 'tougher' times.

There is no real definition of success . It is what you as a person wants it to be . You as a person define it for yourself with you in mind . And if you do not reach the original goal , you can always set new goals . Annnnd... You can be successful in many areas of your life so one choice may not define you .

Ooh, the last point is a good one. I think waaaay too often we let our work status or earning define out success. Why? Why do we attach our personal value to what we earn?
