No problem with me. I know everyone is talking about one case where woman changed her name, and caused not match.
I would rather have that then: surprise you now owe IRS $20k because of unpaid taxes in TX. But I never worked in TX? Well we have two simultaneous jobs you've been working at... Now feel free to hire an attny to dispute those claims.
I would be upgrading all the SS cards with smart card chips PIN with pretty much no chance of faking.

however, an employer who receives a "no-match" letter is required to give the employee 90 days to resolve the data discrepancy with the huge SSA bureaucracy, a formidable challenge, the rights groups pointed out.
Bull, 3 months is more than enough time, and if there is a discrepancy it would behoove you to straighten it out.
Under the I-9 rules you have to provide valid ID an SS card is one of them. A few years back I couldn't find mine. I went to the SS office, no appontment and was out with my SS card in less than 1 hr.
90 days is more that enough time if you are "LEGALY" allowed to work in this country.
What this article failed to mention is that if your SSN is being used by an illegal alien, you are required to pay their taxes. The IRS will assume you have 2 jobs, you will be taxed for BOTH your income the income of the illegal

The first SSNs I would check would be the state and federal elected officials. I would start with the president and work my way down. Any discrepancies...you're outta there!

The first "no match" letter should be going to the U.S. Government regarding Chertoff.
Another ploy that is intended on obfuscating enforcement of illegal aliens. Harass legal citizens while ignoring enforcement where it is needed.

What a "Brave New World" we're living in.
Right mamasan, but 90 days is pretty stringent. I've got to get my birth certificate and then get a passport to visit old friends across the river. Never had to do that before. Red tape is time and money. Lets just detain you until we're sure everything is on the up and up. Get my drift. Your papers please.
