A steady stream of discouraging economic news is bringing with it talk of the dreaded "R" word. Economists at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley say the U.S. is heading for its first-blown recession in 16 years, and a recent CNN poll found that 57 percent of the public believe the U.S. is in a recession already, with the economy topping the list of voter's worries.
A recession could hit some job-seekers hard. "A lot of people won't have the luxury of going for their first choice in a down economy," said Sophia Koropeckyj, an economist at Moody's Economy.com.
However, many employment sectors are expected to remain strong despite a possible recession, and job-seekers may have more success if they focus on recession-proof professions.

Health care has always been the one field i have encouraged people to go into, there are always demands for good health care providers, from Dr's to nursing assts!

  But not good pay if the rest of the society is broke. The economic stimulus package shows good signs of staving off a recession. But the don't tax, just spend behavior of the New Republicans has us primed not for a recession, but a worldwide deporession the equal of 1929.
  There are ways out. Unfortunately, nobody yet has the political courage to suggest them. We will see what happens.

  States can't spend money thier tax base can't support. They aren't like the Federal Government. Since we took the dollar off the gold standard in the 70s, Federal politicians can print more money any time they want it, which is ALWAYS! The result is the devaluation of the dollar against all other world currencies, which has driven oil from $25 a barrel to $100 a barrel.
  No matter how often poloticians promise you a free ride, cutting taxes and expanding goodies, it is ALWAYS a lie. It cannot be done. It defies the "something from nothing" laws of the universe. And as long as the American Public insists on remaining politically stupid and buying into such obviuous scams, we'll continue to slide toward depression.

The railroad is hiring, they want to get people trained to fill the jobs of the people who will be retiring. My youngest son has been working for the railroad for a year and a half and his benefits and wages are excellent! He has been going to school, paid for by the company.

Want a job that is recession proof. Money begger at the highway off ramp. I saw a news article a few years ago. some were pulling in $300 a day. Then the camera followed one of the 'homeless' who then went a few block over and got into his BMW and drove off to his nice apartment. LOL

From these fields -Education , Energy, Health care ,International business,Environmental sector and Security - are the major sectors I hope it will be better soon.
The "Hamberger Crisis" in USA effected to world economic during half year of 2008, we will see how much for the impact.
