    Women and minorities should be encouraged and fostered to more equally represent their contribution in general. But this must be done within a framework of ability, not as a planned social contract. All businesses should hire and promote the best of their employees, regardless of what kind of skin they reside in. Failure to do this makes companies less competitive, and ultimately risks the company getting to have zero employees when they shut down.

    Having said that, I recognize where there are gender/race/ethnicity situations where companies might want their employees look like what they are marketing or making.

    This is more "nanny state" activity in Britain. This comment: 'Yet listen to this figure - if you are a woman working part-time you get 40% less per hour on average than a man working full-time' shows a lack of business acumen.

    Within the same skill set, a full time employee will make more money because of their likely greater business contribution.
